Online Module 1
Foundational Elements of Somatic Work
Begins Friday, June 26, 2026 7:00 AM Pacific (US) | 2:00 PM GMT
Led by Marion Gilbert
There is a difference between understanding yourself conceptually and experiencing yourself somatically.
Module 1 is an invitation to move from insight into embodiment. Guided by Marion Gilbert, this foundational training introduces the essential principles of the Somatic Enneagram Method — a body-based approach that integrates mind, emotions, and instinctive responses into a cohesive path of growth.
Most of us attempt to change our patterns through thought alone. But personality patterns live not just in ideas — they live in the nervous system, in muscular bracing, in breath patterns, and in instinctive reactions that occur before we have time to think. In this module, you’ll begin learning how to work at the level where these patterns actually form.
Through experiential practices, type panel demonstrations, and guided exploration, you will discover how awareness in the body creates space. Space between stimulus and response. Space between reaction and choice. Space where resilience and presence naturally emerge.
This course is designed for those who want a practical, embodied foundation — whether for personal growth or as groundwork for deeper Somatic Enneagram study.

What You Will Experience
In Module 1, you will be guided step-by-step into the core foundations of somatic awareness:
Grounded Presence
You will learn how to anchor attention in the body, cultivating stability and openness in the present moment. Rather than being pulled into habitual reactions, you’ll practice returning to a centered, embodied state.
Inner Observer Cultivation
Develop the capacity to witness your internal responses — thoughts, emotions, impulses — without immediately identifying with them. This observer function becomes a stabilizing force in moments of stress or activation.
Placement of Attention
Discover how consciously directing awareness to specific areas of the body can soften your type structure and relax automatic defense patterns. You’ll experience how subtle shifts in attention can create profound internal change.
Each session includes lectures, somatic exercises, reflective dialogue, and type panel demonstrations that bring theory into lived experience.
What You Will Gain
By the end of Module 1, you won’t just understand somatic work — you’ll feel the difference.
You’ll begin to recognize how your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations work together to shape your reactions. Instead of being swept up in stress or anxiety, you’ll have tools to pause, ground, and respond with greater clarity.
You’ll gain practical methods for:
-
Regulating emotional activation
-
Reducing stress and anxiety patterns
-
Recognizing early signs of reactivity
-
Returning to presence in real time
Most importantly, you’ll develop a foundational skill set that supports deeper inner work — building resilience not through force, but through awareness.
Module 1 lays the groundwork for lasting transformation by helping you access the intelligence of your body as an ally in healing and growth.
