In-person Module 1-3 in Birmingham, UK
An Immersive In-Person Training with
Marion Gilbert & Heather Brown
April 21–27, 2027
Hillscourt Conference Centre | Birmingham, United Kingdom
Understanding your Enneagram type can illuminate the patterns that shape the way you think, feel, relate, and move through the world. But insight alone does not always create transformation.
Our patterns do not live only in our minds. Over time, they become embodied—expressed through sensation, attention, emotion, contraction, impulse, posture, and the automatic ways our nervous systems respond to the world around us.
The Somatic Enneagram invites us to meet our type at this deeper level.
Join Somatic Enneagram founder Marion Gilbert and certified Somatic Enneagram Practitioner Heather Brown for an immersive six-day experience (at Hillscourt) encompassing Modules 1, 2, and 3 of the Somatic Enneagram curriculum.
While the foundational material is the same as our online Modules 1–3, gathering in person gives us something an online environment simply cannot replicate: time.
Time to practice.
Time to notice.
Time to work directly with what emerges.
Time to receive personalized guidance.
And time to allow one experience to settle before moving into the next.
Across the six days, the modules build upon one another. We begin by developing the embodied awareness necessary to recognize type structure in real time. From there, we explore the body's natural defense system and what happens when we become activated or triggered. As the work deepens, we turn toward the underlying patterns and survival strategies that can keep familiar ways of being in place.
Rather than simply accumulating more information about your Enneagram type, you will practice experiencing your patterns from within—and discover what can become possible when you are present enough to meet them differently.

What You Will Experience
This immersive training combines the complete foundational curriculum of Somatic Enneagram Modules 1–3 with expanded opportunities for experiential practice, inquiry, reflection, integration, and personalized work with Marion and Heather.
Module 1: Foundations of Embodied Awareness
We begin by shifting from understanding type conceptually toward experiencing it somatically.
You will explore how Enneagram patterns show up through sensation, attention, emotion, impulse, and the felt experience of the body. Foundational Somatic Enneagram practices will help you slow down, become more grounded, and recognize type structure as it arises in the present moment.
The invitation is not simply to know your pattern, but to become present enough to experience it.
Module 2: The Defense System and How to Be With It
From this foundation of awareness, we turn toward the body's natural protective responses.
You will explore what happens somatically when you feel threatened, challenged, overwhelmed, or triggered—including the embodied experiences of fight, flight, and freeze.
Rather than treating defenses as something to overcome, we learn to meet them consciously and compassionately, recognizing the protective intelligence within them and creating greater space around automatic reactions.
Module 3: Deepening the Work
As our capacity for embodied presence develops, we can begin turning toward deeper patterns that organize our experience.
Module 3 explores the relationship between our familiar survival strategies and the deeper qualities available when type structure begins to soften. Through somatic practice and inquiry, we develop greater capacity to remain present with difficult experiences rather than automatically returning to the strategies that have historically helped us navigate uncertainty, pressure, loss, or challenge.
Throughout all three modules, you will experience a rhythm of teaching, guided somatic practice, movement, inquiry, reflection, group learning, and integration.
Because we are gathering in person across six days, there is also more opportunity for individualized attention and for Marion and Heather to work directly with what emerges within the group.
What You Will Gain
By experiencing Modules 1–3 together, you will build a progressive foundation for deeper Somatic Enneagram work.
You will have the opportunity to:
Recognize your Enneagram patterns in the body.
Move beyond intellectual understanding and learn to identify type structure through sensation, attention, emotion, impulse, and embodied response.
Develop greater capacity for presence.
Learn foundational practices that help you remain connected with your experience rather than immediately being carried into familiar reactions.
Understand your defense system.
Recognize the somatic expressions of fight, flight, and freeze and develop more compassionate ways of being with these natural protective responses.
Create more space between activation and reaction.
Practice slowing down automatic patterns so that additional possibilities and choices can become available.
Explore deeper survival strategies.
Begin recognizing the structures beneath familiar patterns and how they shape the way you navigate challenge, uncertainty, relationship, and change.
Strengthen resilience and flexibility.
Develop a greater capacity to remain present with difficult experiences without automatically relying upon habitual strategies.
Bring somatic awareness into your work with others.
For coaches, spiritual directors, therapists, Enneagram teachers, and other practitioners, develop an embodied framework that can deepen how you understand and accompany others.
Build a strong foundation for advanced Somatic Enneagram work.
Modules 1–3 establish essential practices and understanding that support continued study within the Somatic Enneagram curriculum.
The purpose of this work is not to eliminate your Enneagram type.
It is to develop enough awareness and presence that the patterns of type no longer have to determine what happens next.
