Module 3 Online

Moving Beyond Survival Strategies Toward Essence

July 9–11, 2027 | Live Online
Led by Somatic Enneagram Founder Marion Gilbert

Beneath many of our familiar reactions and defenses are deeper strategies we have learned for navigating life.

They shape what we pay attention to, what we avoid, how we protect ourselves, and what we instinctively reach for when life becomes uncertain, painful, or overwhelming. Over time, these strategies can become so familiar that we no longer recognize them as strategies at all. They simply feel like who we are.

They have served us. And when they operate automatically, they can also limit our capacity for choice.

Somatic Enneagram Module 3 invites us to meet these deeper patterns through the intelligence of the body.

Building upon the embodied awareness of Module 1 and the exploration of the defense system in Module 2, Module 3 turns toward the deeper survival strategies of Enneagram type—the patterns of thinking, feeling, and instinctive response we rely upon as we navigate uncertainty, pressure, loss, and challenge.

Led by Somatic Enneagram founder Marion Gilbert, this three-day online experience invites you to slow these patterns down enough to experience them as they are happening.

For this offering of Module 3, Spanish translation will be available throughout the training, creating an opportunity for English and Spanish-speaking participants to engage this work together.

What You Will Experience

Across three days, Heather Brown will guide participants through teaching, somatic awareness practices, experiential exercises, inquiry, reflection, and integration.

You will explore the ways your Enneagram type organizes experience through the three centers of intelligence—head, heart, and body—and how familiar patterns of thought, emotion, and instinct can become strategies for navigating uncertainty, pressure, loss, and challenge.

Rather than approaching these patterns as problems to eliminate, we will become curious about the intelligence within them.

How have these strategies helped us?

What are they attempting to protect or provide?

What happens in the body when they become activated?

And what becomes possible when we can remain present without immediately returning to them?

Through guided somatic practice, you will have opportunities to slow these patterns down and experience them in real time. This creates space to recognize not only the familiar strategy, but also what may exist underneath it.

Module 3 also deepens the exploration of personality and Essence. As we develop greater capacity to stay present with our embodied experience, qualities that can become obscured by habitual patterns may begin to emerge more naturally.

The work is not about getting rid of personality.

It is about developing enough presence that personality becomes less automatic—and something deeper becomes available.

What You Will Gain

Through Module 3, you will deepen the foundational Somatic Enneagram practices introduced in the earlier modules while developing a greater understanding of the structures beneath your familiar patterns.

You will have the opportunity to:

Recognize your survival strategies as they arise.
Learn to identify familiar patterns not only conceptually, but through their physical, emotional, and attentional expressions.

Understand the relationship between thought, feeling, and instinct.
Explore how the three centers of intelligence interact and how your type may rely upon particular strategies when navigating challenge or uncertainty.

Develop greater capacity to remain present with difficult experience.
Practice staying connected to the body when familiar strategies begin to activate rather than immediately moving into automatic reaction.

Meet your patterns with curiosity and compassion.
Understand survival strategies as intelligent adaptations rather than failures or obstacles that need to be defeated.

Create greater space for choice.
As automatic patterns become visible and experienceable, new responses can begin to emerge.

Explore the movement from personality toward Essence.
Discover how deeper qualities can become more accessible when the habitual structures of type begin to soften.

Deepen your work with others.
For coaches, spiritual directors, therapists, Enneagram teachers, and other helping professionals, Module 3 offers an embodied framework for recognizing deeper patterns while accompanying others with greater presence and compassion.

The invitation of Module 3 is not to become someone different.

It is to become present enough to recognize the strategies you have learned to rely upon—and discover what remains when you no longer have to hold onto them quite so tightly.

About Your Guide

Marion Gilbert is the founder of the Somatic Enneagram and an internationally recognized Enneagram teacher whose work has helped bring embodied awareness into the heart of Enneagram practice.

Drawing from decades of experience in somatic awareness, trauma-informed practice, and the Enneagram, Marion developed the Somatic Enneagram as a way of working directly with the patterns of type as they are experienced through sensation, reactivity, and the intelligence of the body.

Her teaching invites students beyond simply understanding personality and toward the direct experience of their patterns in the present moment. Through compassionate inquiry and embodied presence, Marion helps participants develop greater capacity for choice, resilience, freedom, and access to the deeper qualities of Essence.
